Jean-Christophe Novelli is one of the most exciting chefs cooking in the UK today.  His career has been one of great contrasts.  He started out aged 14 as a baker, becoming head private chef to the Rothschild family before the age of 20. 

On his arrival in England, he worked for various country hotels including The Chewton Glen Hotel and as well as ‘Country Restaurant of the year’ three times.

Jean-Christophe has worked at a number of restaurants gaining Michelin stars including: the Provence restaurant in Lymington, after just six months as chef patron, and The Four Seasons Hotel, Maison Novelli and Le Saveur de Jean Christophe Novelli.  Other awards and honours include the Egon Ronay dessert of the year award (1992), AA Chef’s Chef of the Year (1998), the Harpers & Queen fifth most alluring man in the world award and prizes for his book ‘Your Place of Mine?’

Several times he was voted the sexiest chef in England, and "Harpers and Queen" voted him the fifth most alluring man in the world.

Well known faces frequently eat in Jean Christophe’s restaurants - Tony Blair, Salmon Rushdie, David Bowie, Geri Haliwell. Princess Anne invited Jean Christophe to a private function and he took part in a hunting day with Madonna and her husband Guy Ritchie during their honeymoon. Arnold Schwarzenneger invited him to the New York Four Seasons during the promotional tour for his book, Your Place or Mine? which received several awards, including the gold medal in Germany.

Jean Christophe has put his face to adverts for Nokia, Evian, Badoit, Twinings Tea, Rotary watches, and was offered consultancies for Carte Noire coffee and Billington sugar amongst others. He also had a column in the Saturday Times Magazine called Novelli’s Secrets. 

A rapid rise to fame and success brought with it a raft of opportunities.  Prime-time television and Radio frequently feature Jean Christophe, and has worked with some of the biggest names in the entertaining industry including Sir David Frost, Ruby Wax and Emma Bunton.  

In his spare time Jean Christophe is a keen golfer and recently played with Marcel Desailly captain of Chelsea and France. At present, Jean Christophe is in training for the London Triathlon 2002 and hopes to beat his time from 2000. 

Cooking and creating are Jean Christophe’s first loves. He remains passionate about the industry, his restaurant Maison Novelli and focuses on satisfying his loyal customers.  Working closely with his friend Marco Pierre White on various projects, Jean Christophe’s plans include a new design for the restaurant.
